Sports Injury & Rehabilitation - One Treatment at a Time: My Journey Through Meadows Wellbeing

This month, I visited Emma at Meadows Wellbeing, one of their incredibly knowledgeable Sports Injury & Rehabilitation Practitioners. With an MSc in Sports Injury Therapy and a BSc in Sports Science & Coaching, Emma brings years of expertise to every session — but what truly stood out was her warmth, reassurance, and passion for helping people feel better.

Emma specialises in injury assessment, identification, treatment, and rehabilitation, using a wide range of techniques to understand what’s really happening beneath the surface. From posture issues and movement dysfunctions to pain from injuries, surgery, work, or even gardening, Emma can get to the root of it.

What surprised me most was how inclusive her work is.

I’ll admit, the term “Sports Injury” initially put me off - I’m definitely not an athlete. I worried I wouldn’t “qualify” for this type of therapy, or that it wouldn’t be relevant to my everyday aches and pains. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Emma treats everyone: children and adults, people recovering from surgery, those with long-term pain, and of course, active athletes needing maintenance or injury prevention. Her priority is simple — to help you move better, feel better, and understand your body.

My Session With Emma

As we began, Emma guided me through a series of movements to identify areas of weakness or limited mobility. She quickly noticed that my left leg moved differently — a long-lasting effect of a car accident I’d been in.

She explained how injuries sometimes heal in ways that leave muscles tight or shortened, limiting movement over time. It was eye-opening to hear why my body felt a certain way, not just that it did.

Emma talked me through each step, never rushing, always making sure I understood what she was looking for and why. Her explanations helped me connect the dots between old injuries, current pain, and how treatment could improve things.

Treatment Options Emma Offers

Once an issue is identified, Emma can tailor treatment using a wide range of techniques, such as:

  • Injury Assessment & Identification

  • Injury Treatment

  • Rehabilitation & Injury Prevention Programs

  • Manual Therapy (joint & soft tissue mobilisation)

  • Trigger Point / Myofascial Release

  • Dynamic / Kinesiology Taping

  • Strength & Flexibility Testing

  • Deep Tissue & Sports Massage

  • Blood Flow Restriction Training (BFRT)

  • Dry Needling — a technique Emma is fully qualified in, used to relax tight muscle fibres, reduce pain, restore movement, and speed up recovery.

Every part of the session felt personalised and purposeful — Emma didn’t just treat the symptoms, she helped me understand the “why” behind them.

Walking Away With Confidence

By the end of my appointment, I felt informed, supported, and hopeful. Emma combines clinical knowledge with genuine care, making the whole process feel accessible — even for someone who never thought “sports therapy” applied to them.

If you’re struggling with mobility, discomfort, an old injury, or simply want to move better and feel stronger, Emma is someone I’d recommend wholeheartedly. Sometimes, one treatment really can start a journey back to feeling like yourself again.
